Playlist of spring 2025
champagne coast | blood orange
This song is the weekend I spent in Wales:
Stepping out of the van to see venus between the mountains, a sky full of stars, flashlights acting as spotlights in the distance, my best friend lying her head on my heart as we gaze at the sky. The sun coming bright through the windows of the middle-of-nowhere hostel (who someone’s dad had stayed in 20 years before), shedding layers of clothing as the hike up the mountain became steeper, the little lake at the top, the long walk along the picket fence as the sun begins to descend. Finding oysters and shells on the long-awaited beach, walking the grassy hills to to the lighthouse and carving our names into the wooden window shutter, saying goodbye to new friends over fish n’ chips on the boardwalk.
i follow rivers – the magical remix | lykke li, the magician & losing you | solange
Pres in the University of Manchester dorm rooms.
what once was | hers
With spring comes new opportunities, as well as reflection on past ones. This song brings me back to my first year of university — where I didn’t realize how good it was until it had passed.
charmed | Σtella, redinho
In the car with strangers I had met 10 minutes ago, driving through the Norwegian mountains.
SUPERSTAR | MS. LAURYN HILL
Walking everywhere listening to this album.
Deeper well | Kacey musgrave
A message I sent to a friend across the world who I haven’t seen in awhile: “Yesterday when I was in Norway I walked into this beautiful cafe with christmas lights and plants and posters of old films and Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves was playing and it reminded me of you.”
We only became friends in the last year and have not spent much time together, but when we are together, we click in an indescribable way and it feels like we are meant to know each other. Over the summer I visited her hometown, and in between driving in her van which we had slept in the night before to different lakes or hikes this song had played and she told me it got her through a very difficult time. I’ve held this song close and it brings me solace in my own troubled times.
cattails | big thief
As I walked through the neighbourhood of white wooden houses in Stavanger, Norway, listening to this song, I saw flowers and knick knacks in all the windowsills and three cats wandering the cobblestone street.
LADY LOVE | THEE SACRED SOULS
Another good one I have been listening to since second year in my room with the dark mahogany dresser, pictures taped to the mirror and hung on the string of lights above the window, turntable and a glass of wine on the floor.
here there and everywhere | the beatles
The first time I ever heard this song was a couple I had recently met perform a duet to this song and it gave me another reason to believe in love.
